Additional level packs will be important features to two upcoming sequels to iPhone game Rolando, according to Neil Young, CEO of its publisher ngmoco.

During his keynote speech at GDC Mobile, Young revealed that Rolando 2: The Quest for the Golden Orchid will be released in June, with Rolando 3 following in November.

Each game will get three additional level packs following its release, each with four levels. And they'll be free. The first Rolando game will also be getting a new level pack this May, too.

Which is great for gamers. But we wonder why the publisher has opted against using the new micro-transactions feature in the iPhone 3.0 software to charge for these level packs.

There's no law saying they have to, of course - it's interesting that the publisher has decided to keep these updates free for its player community.

Young also revealed that ngmoco has teamed up with Zen Bound developer Secret Exit for a new iPhone title to be released later this year.
