Get set for Palm Pre developer camp

Excitement is mounting around Palm's new Pre smartphone, among developers, gadget-lovers and (possibly) Apple's lawyers.

The developers now have more reason to be cheerful about the Pre. A group of fellow devs have launched preDevCamp, described as "a day of webOS application building, networking and fun".

It's not an official Palm thing, though - this is grassroots. The event is currently set to take place in 35 cities around the world, although the organisers say they're shooting for 70-100 in total.

It's planned to take place a week after the US launch of the Pre handset, and was inspired by a similar event - iPhoneDevCamp - for iPhone.

Invited along are mobile and web developers, UI designers and testers. Attendees will work on projects using the Mojo development SDK.

Co-founder Giovanni Gallucci tells PocketGamer.biz that games developers are warmly welcome, and that they made up the majority of programmers at the iPhoneDevCamp events.
