Carriers are just dumb pipes right?

Not according to Sprint, which has been filling out its distribution business via its Sprint ID technology.

It's a packaged model that provides users with downloads containing content ranging from apps and games to ringers, wallpapers and widgets.

Games get a look in with Glu Mobile offering some of its Android games such as Gun Bros., Bug Village, Contract Killer, Guitar Hero and Deer Hunter Challenge.

Supported devices include LG Optimus S, Motorola Photo 4G, Sanyo Zio, Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G, and Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Big pack value

"Glu is excited to partner with Sprint to provide our audiences with a convenient and accessible way to play their favourite Glu games, while also discovering more of our diverse offerings," said Mike DeLaet, Glu's vice president of sales and marketing.

Glu's content is split into three packs. There's Guitar Hero & More and Deer Hunter & More, which as well as their title games, also contain 10 or more titles such as Gun Bros. and Contract Killer.

The third pack is called Free Glu Games and contains 13 games, although all three packs are free for users of Sprint's Everything Data plan.
