Gowalla has updated its presence on both Palm's webOS and Android in the space of days, with version 2.0 offering photo sharing and comments, among other features.

The new version of the location-based social app brings Gowalla in line with the competition (Foursquare etc) allowing users to share and see photos at a check-in, comment on each other's movements and view friends' recommended trips and bookmarked spots.

Check-in controversy

Gowalla claims the webOS release goes further than its Android-based cousin, also throwing in advanced searching and filtering features and enhanced GPS flexibility.

However, some believe stretching the app's previous GPS boundaries simply means the Palm version of Gowalla will allow users to check-in at locations they're not really visiting a feature Gowalla's rivals have been keen to clamp down on.

The respective version 2.0 debuts on Android and webOS comes after a similar update on iPhone in the middle of April, with the app having also launched on iPad.
