Gameloft has bagged the mobile game licence for UK gameshow The Krypton Factor, while Capcom has nabbed University Challenge, both licensed from TV firm Granada Ventures.

According to a story on Mobile Entertainment, the deals were negotiated via Granada's licensing partner AT New Media, which is also working on similar deals for other shows in Granada's archive.

Gameloft's deal isn't a surprise - the company has been hoovering up UK TV licences ever since the huge success of its Deal or No Deal game. It's doubtful whether The Krypton Factor will have as big an impact though, given that it went off-air in 1995.

In the UK, mobile games based on currently airing gameshows have been popular, with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? matching Deal or No Deal's popularity.

No news on whether Gameloft and Capcom's new deals include the rights to use the presenters of the TV shows - Gordon Burns and Jeremy Paxman respectively.
