Handango to sell Android applications from this month

Mobile applications retailer Handango says it plans to sell Android applications from the launch date of the first Android handset, T-Mobile's G1.

In an interview with MocoNews, Handango CEO Bill Stone says there's nothing stopping the company from selling Android apps either, despite the fact that Google's own Android Market won't allow paid downloads until early next year.

Developers will be able to start uploading their Android apps to Handango today, in readiness for the launch of its Android section later this month, and Stone says there should be 100 available at launch.

The news will be followed with interest by mobile games developers and publishers, with several of the larger firms not planning to release their games on Android Market until they can charge for them.
