Brazilian firm Handcase has announced plans to launch an ad-funded gaming platform for Palm OS handsets.

It's called GameDog, and will offer users subscription-based access to the company's catalogue of games, with the price varying according to how many adverts they choose to view.

The service includes a GameDog Manager application, within which companies can advertise, as well as in-game ads. The company says it's targeting the global community of more than 50 million Palm OS users.

It's certainly a niche - Palm isn't the mobile force it used to be by any stretch of the imagination - but this focus may steer GameDog clear of the competition on other mobile platforms, where several ad-gaming platforms are battling it out.

"The date for the launch has not yet been set but we hope that soon users, advertising agencies and companies in general can enjoy the platform, services and games that offer through GameDog." says Handcase director Ricardo Garay.
