One of the highlights of the Game Developers Conference (GDC) this year was the inaugural Independent Games Festival (IGF) Mobile awards.

Well, they're back for a second year, with the winners due to be announced during the GDC Mobile show next March.

This time, the competition is expanding to all handheld platforms, including mobile but also iPhone, Windows Mobile, and even DS and PSP.

Although many independent mobile developers are diversifying into iPhone and DS, there's a question around whether it's fair to lump all these into the same competition.

There'll also be a new category allowing developers to pitch their new ideas at the awards night, with their peers voting on which is the best.

Meanwhile, there'll also be awards for innovation in mobile game design, audio, art direction, design and technology, as well as the overall best game award, which'll be worth $10,000.

You can enter now, with the deadline for submissions being 17th November. The finalists will be announced in January, while the awards ceremony will take place in March, during GDC Mobile.

More details and the entry form can be found here.
