iTunes update arrives in time for 3.0 software announcement

Apple's iPhone and iPod organisational client, iTunes, has just had an update to version 8.2, not long after the previous update was released.
Although it provides a couple of bug fixes, it's rumoured that the new update is linked to the imminent launch of the iPhone's highly anticipated 3.0 software. Apple is expected to make an announcement on the availability of the new operating system at next week's Worldwide Developers Conference, though no firm launch schedule has yet been discussed.
But it now seems that not all the changes will be improvements. According to a bit of dabbling a couple of developers have been doing with the Beta version of 3.0, the facility to re-download purchased applications direct to the device is to be removed (or, at least, be charged for a second time).
It's not been confirmed whether this will be included in the final version of 3.0, but it could become something of a nuisance for anyone with a full memory who wants to reinstall an app while out and about.
