Java emulator released for PSP

Initially it sounds more like a novelty than an intensely functional application, but the Java emulator for the PSP known as PSPKVM could unlock a lot of potential for anyone with a collection of mobile games and applications.
The emulator doesnt just run the games, but is able to recreate the functions of specific handsets, so anyone who prefers the way an N73 operates, for instance, can load the hardware specifics for that device.
Alongside running the Java-built games, PSPKVM allows users to run multiple instances of the MIDlets. This means a game could be in session, with a Java-based instant messenger, web browser and even Google maps in the background.
The PSP is severely lacking in such small but immensely useful applications, and the lightweight Java architecture and file sizes are nothing of a strain for Sonys handheld console to run.
Plenty of gamers have their favourite mobile titles, and with the sheer weight of available games to choose from, what initially appears to be a trivial emulator could expand the usability of the PSP to new levels for just the right user.
Itd be undeniably interesting to see developers and homebrew programmers begin putting together Java applications aimed directly at the PSP as a host platform. A new version of PSPKVM has just been released over on the official website for anyone whos intrigued by this concept.
