The developer of the hugely popular mobile app HQ Trivia has named its chief technology officer Colin Kroll as its new CEO.
As reported by Digiday, he takes over the role from co-founder Rus Yusupov who has been appointed the company’s chief creative officer.
Expansion plans
Intermedia Labs plans to expand its portfolio of titles following the runaway success of HQ Trivia. It previously announced a new quiz show called HQ Sports and now it has unveiled its third product: HQ Words.
Set to launch in October, the title is described as similar to TV show Wheel of Fortune, but tailored for smartphones.
Players must guess the phrase from various clues, earning points for each correct letter. Players with the most points by the end of the game will then win money from the prize pool.

“We’re trying to diversify a bit, and that’s where my skill-set comes in handy,” said Kroll.
“My favourite part of working here is your imagination runs wild when you look at what we’re doing and you apply that to any idea. The sky's the limit, but the challenge is how do we build them.”
Intermedia Labs was recently ranked 38th in PocketGamer.biz’s Top 50 Developer list.
