Originally a web-based Flash outfit, Kongregate has made headlines aplenty since it made a move on mobile though not always for the right reasons.

The GameStop owned web-portal's next step, however, is unlikely to prove all too controversial, with the company taking its first steps in the world of mobile games publishing.

The escape artist

The first game on its books is two man-indie team Incredible Ape's /Escape, which originally began life as a free browser-based Flash game over at the Kongregate website.

The company originally made news when Kongregate Arcade its Flash-based games package for Android was pulled by Google at the start of 2011 after it declared the release a rival app store.

A revised version of the app later reappeared on Android Market a few days later.

/Escape is available now on iOS and Android for 99c. Like Kongregate Arcade, the game also offers GameStop membership points when players unlock in-app achievements.
