Cross-platform female portal LimeLife has announced the acquisition of fellow US firm Tapatap for an undisclosed amount.

LimeLife plans to integrate Tapatap's technology platform into its PC and mobile portals. The latter company lets users create profiles and compete in popularity contests from their phones.

"Tapatap's community and virtual economy features are robust and among the leaders in the industry," says LimeLife CEO Kristin McDonnell.

"The acquisition of Tapatap supercharges LimeLife's continued delivery of a rich experience to our cross-platform audience."

There's a mobile games angle here, too. LimeLife started life as a mobile games developer creating titles aimed at women, while Tapatap was formed by three former executives at InfoSpace's since-shuttered mobile games division.
