US firm LiveRail is the latest company trying to help iPhone developers make money from their applications through advertising.

It's launched something called LiveRail iPhone AdManager, which allows developers to stick video ads inside their games or apps, and get paid for it.

The company is touting the simplicity of its platform - it only requires a few lines of code apparently - as well as its flexibility.

The tech streams adverts from LiveRail's servers, automatically adapting the bitrate according to whether an iPhone user is on EDGE, 3G or wi-fi. If a user isn't connected, it plays the last advert to be cached.

With ongoing downward pressure on App Store game prices, there are plenty of developers looking to offer their games for free, funded by ads.

But as TechCrunch points out, Apple has so far stayed typically silent about its view on all this, and whether it'll expect a cut of advertising revenues if this area takes off.

Anyway, for now check out the video below, which explains how iPhone AdManager works.
