Newly formed digital board game developer and publisher Meeple Corp has raised £500,000 ($629k) in a pre-seed funding round. 

The studio is based in the UK with a focus on digitising tabletop games through partnerships with publishers. Its debut game Kingdomino Digital is set to launch later this year.

The startup said it will use the investment to accelerate its mission of bringing “iconic" tabletop experiences to life on digital platforms, building upon their game communities and developing further technological capabilities.

Investors who participated in the round include Hiro Capital, The Mini Fund, as well as angels in the games and tech industries 

Meeple Corp was founded by former Marmalade Game Studio senior game programmer Matt Hilson and ex-Electric Square game designer Harri Elmer. 

Creating new experiences 

“It's a real privilege to have the opportunity to work with such renowned and experienced investment teams and investors," said Meeple Corp CEO Matt Hilson. 

“Most importantly we align and see the potential in bringing tabletop experiences into the digital realm, allowing fans to experience their beloved games in a new medium. 

“With this funding, we'll accelerate our mission to bring more iconic tabletop experiences to life while building upon our game communities and developing further technological capabilities."
