Microsoft announces Windows Phone 7 press launch on Oct 11

The news that Microsoft is hosting a press conference in London on October 11 has added to mounting speculation that the platform will make its debut later the same month.

Though specifics regarding the focus of event are unknown, a Windows Phone 7 showcase seems most likely, with the three and a half hour conference falling ten days before its rumoured European launch on October 21.

It also falls in line with Neowin's claims that multiple Windows Phone 7 events are set to take place across the globe on October 11.

The site has previously reported that Microsoft will host a press conference in New York on the same date, with a marketing blitz heavily backed by AT&T likely to follow in the immediate aftermath.

Indeed, early US ads featuring HTC's Mondrian have also leaked online, further adding to claims that the platform's debut is imminent.
