Gameloft is shifting its long-running mobile game Minion Rush to the Unity engine 12 years after it first launched in 2013.

The developer said the move to the tech will bring with it a major visual overhaul to refresh the game’s aging look.

Moreover, Gameloft has updated the title to include power-ups, gadgets, progression systems, and collectibles.

There's also a new Endless Run mode that lets players complete challenges, earn rewards, and unlock costumes.

More changes

In addition to these changes, players can now also customise nicknames, avatars, and frames.

Furthermore, users can collect bananas and progress through the Hall of Jam to unlock rewards like G-Coins, Minion stickers, costume upgrades, story pieces, and gadgets.

Gameloft said that the title has now surpassed 1.2 billion downloads over its lifetime.

"This comprehensive Minion Rush update marks a significant milestone, giving us more flexibility and speed to deliver new content to our players," said Gameloft chief production officer Mathieu Verlaet.

“Our commitment to a game that has delighted fans for over a decade remains unwavering. The update is a testament to our dedication to providing the Minion Rush community with an even more immersive and engaging experience."
