Mobivention grabs Euro Hello Kitty deal

German mobile firm mobivention has announced a deal with Sanrio Digital to make mobile content based on Hello Kitty.

The deal includes Java games as well as MMS cards, wallpaper themes and Flash Lite wallpapers, and covers seven European countries: Germany, Austria, Poland, Croatia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Slovenia.

Besides distributing the content through existing sales channels, mobivention says it plans to build "theme specific sub portals" for Hello Kitty.

"The appeal of Hello Kitty is universal, and we are excited to be bringing this property to the mobile market," says mobivention CEO Dr Hubert Weid. "As a lifestyle icon, the Hello Kitty brand is perfect for consumers using their mobile phones to express their personalities.

This isn't the first Sanrio mobile gaming deal in Europe, though. In 2004, THQ Wireless announced a deal to release two Hello Kitty mobile games plus ringtones and wallpapers.
