Keen to accelerate the roll out of HTML5 titles on its browser-based games platform, MocoSpace has unveiled a $1 million strong fund designed to encourage their development.

The firm is currently inviting studios to submit either existing HTML5 games in their library or proposals for original releases.

Those lucky enough to be selected will receive a share of the cash, with MocoSpace also aiding developers with marketing support to boost the take-up of their offerings.

High priority HTML5

In MocoSpace CEO Justin Siegel's view, the developer fund is simply a reaction to increasing demand from consumers for high quality browser based releases.

"The majority of MocoSpace’s audience will soon be on smartphones," said Siegel.

"Our members are begging for more games, so accelerating the growth of our game catalog is a top priority for us We’re looking for great third party game developers to help us meet demand and game titles that lend themselves well to the mobile social experience."

Launched in December, the first HTML5 game to debut on MocoSpace's platform - Stage Hero - had amassed more than 350,000 monthly average users (MAU) by the start of February.

Street Wars, which rolled out on the platform in October, currently boasts over 370,000 MAUs.
