Organisers behind GameCity Nottingham's now annual celebration of games culture have revealed legendary games designer Peter Molyneux is set to make a headline appearance at this year's event.

Molyneux's involvement was unveiled during GameCity's official launch, itself headed up by fantasy author and Eidos founder and life president Ian Livingstone.

He's down to curate an entire day at GameCity, which itself has been expanded from its four day base to spread across an entire week.

"We've been doing a videogame culture event for seven years now, and it's impossible not to notice the big, Peter Molyneux shaped hole in it," said GameCity director Iain Simons, as reported by The Guardian.

"There's a list of people that we really want to come to the festival, and Peter was at the top of it for this year. The shocking thing for me to be honest, was that the ask and the confirmation were all done within about 15 minutes worth of emailing."

Other features heading to GameCity 7 a look at the relationship between games and film, a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Commodore 64 and the GameCityPrize, which looks to honour the "cultural significance of the medium and instigate conversations among those outside the industry."

GameCity will run around Nottingham city centre from 20-27 October.
