Monster Dash downloads jump by 123% as Halfbrick cross promotes on OpenFeint

Games network OpenFeint isn't backwards in coming forwards when it comes to trumpeting the string of successes generated by its various promotional channels.
The latest game to feel the benefit is Halfbrick's Monster Dash, which following a push on OpenFeint's new Developer Announcements system saw downloads rise by 123 percent in less than two days.
Cross-promotion
The fresh venture saw Monster Dash recommended to players of Halfbrick's other release, Fruit Ninja.
The idea is that the fans of the latter game, which recently saw downloads pass the 25 million mark, are more likely to be interested in further releases by its developer a concept the surge in Monster Dash's downloads seems to back up.
"In less than a year weve gotten over 25 million Fruit Ninja downloads and learned a ton about our player community," said Halfbrick marketing director Phil Larsen.
"We thought that they'd love Monster Dash and wanted to introduce them to the game. With OpenFeints developer announcements tool we saw an immediate spike in paid downloads."
Open to all
Developer Announcements is just one of the promo models OpenFeint now offers developers; others include Free Game of the Day and Fire Sale.
OpenFeint CEO Jason Citron believes the network now has the flexibility its rivals lack.
Developers work hard to develop and own fan bases inside of OpenFeint," said Citron.
"With OpenFeint, developers can leverage these fans to make more money, whether it be from cross promoting new games or advertising a new virtual good.
"Cross-promotion is a simple and effective way to get more downloads and make more money."
