In 2010, around 1,500 industry types gathered in Montreal to attend its International Game Summit event, which has been covering five areas of game development - business, arts and VFX, design, production and technology - since 2004.

The 2011 event will be taking place at the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure Hotel between November 1 and 2.

Keynote presentations will be given by Richard Lemarchand and Phillippe Morin of Naughty Dog on the first day and by independent game designer Jason Rohre on day 2.

The concluding keynote will be given by Yves Guillemot of Ubisoft and is titled "When Socialisation Meets High-Definition Gaming: Ubisoft's View on the Future of the Video Game Industry."

Mobile's the word

Those of a more mobile persuasion will be interested to know that Sony's Vernon Harmon will be giving a talk outlining PlayStation Vita hardware, tools and online services.

There will also be a talk entitled "Would You Like Some Data With Your Coffee? aka The Key Analytics You Should Start Every Day With" to be presented by ngmoco executive producer Caryl Shaw.

Former Google Android developer advocate Chris Pruett will also be presenting "Replica Island: Building an Aggressively Compatible Android Game."
