Moshi Monsters has successfully reached its new £50,000 Kickstarter target six hours after going live, confirming that a sequel will be developed for mobile and PC.

After failing to reach its initial £250,000 target in a campaign sabotaged by a "malicious actor", developer Mind Candy took down the campaign and had a brief pause to reflect on fan feedback. Now, a new campaign has launched with a lower goal that was quickly achieved.

As of August 19th, 2025, the second campaign has raised £65,577 across 711 backers. While this is far behind the original campaign’s £164,120 from 2,478 backers (as of August 11th), the new iteration has at least hit its lower target to guarantee funding.

As per Kickstarter rules, donations are only actually paid by contributors if the total goal is reached.

Back for more

The original Moshi Monsters was a popular 2000s Flash game that went offline in 2019 as Adobe Flash Player support came to an end, but Mind Candy has kept the brand alive with spinoff apps since. Now, the company is looking to revitalise the series with a sequel title to the original Moshi Monsters, bringing back familiar faces and introducing newcomers too.

The second Kickstarter campaign has also teased new images of the Moshi Monsters sequel, including new playable monsters like The Poppeteers and The Fizzbangs. Players will also be able to collect Moshlings, decorate homes, play minigames and explore Monstro City as they rebuild it.

The Moshi Monsters sequel is expected to enter early access next summer.

Mind Candy has revealed further details on plans for the game in line with modern mobile trends. For example, there will be currency to collect to exchange for specific upgrades, such as Rox earned through completing puzzles, which can then be spent on cosmetics like monster clothing and house decorations.

Mind Candy has also teased mystery stretch goals if fans contribute a collective £160,000 and £170,000, seemingly encouraging enthusiasts from the original campaign to re-pledge to the new Kickstarter.

We spoke with Mind Candy CEO Christianne Amodio during the original campaign, discussing key markets, fake pledges and the broader brand opportunities on the table.
