nDreams CEO Patrick O'Luanaigh steps down after 19 years

nDreams CEO Patrick O'Luanaigh is set to step down from the role after 19 years at the virtual reality games developer.
He will be replaced in the role by Tomas Gillo, who has worked at the company for nearly a decade, most recently as chief development officer.
New role
O'Luanaigh will move into the role of non-executive chairman at the firm and said he will continue to work closely with the executive team and parent company Aonic to shape the studio’s future direction.
Former non-executive chairman Frank Sagnier stepped back from the position last month.

nDreams was founded in 2006 and had worked on PlayStation Home games before pivoting to virtual reality development. The studio was acquired by Aonic in a $110 million deal in 2023.
“Tom knows the company and teams better than anyone, and most importantly knows VR and MR game development inside out, and I have no doubt that he’ll do a fantastic job along with the incredible exec team that we have built,” said O'Luanaigh in a LinkedIn post.
“I wanted to send a special thank you to the incredible Frank Sagnier, who left his role as Chairman last month – Frank, it has been a genuine pleasure getting to work so closely with you, and I have loved every minute of it!
“Also huge thanks to other amazing board members who have played such a key role in the journey so far, especially Mike Hayes, Julian Viggars, Pip Burley, Dan Nord and Nicholas Lovell. And finally a massive thank you to all the amazing nDreamers who I have had the genuine honour to work with (not least the original “Xi” dream team of Christian Wheeler, Martin Field, Nicholas Pendriis, David Varela and Chris Nuttall).
“I have loved my 19 years as CEO, and it’s going to be great to continue to keep a close eye on nDreams’ exciting journey from my new role.”
