Netsize updates app store billing white paper for 70 top stores

Building on an original report launched in May 2010, mobile payments provider Netsize has published an updated version of its Application Store Billing white paper.

The new document is designed to identify and track the characteristics of the most competitive app stores, analysing business models to clarify the various strengths and weaknesses of each marketplace.

It also contains updated Netsize rankings of the top 70 application stores, including ranking by app store type (platform, device, operator, independent, directory) and app type (free apps, paid apps, total apps).

The report concludes that areas key to consumers include the convenience of the store, any compatibility issues when it comes to downloading apps specific to set devices, and the ease of payment.

As well as a foreword written by the Wireless Industry Partnership (WIP), the white paper also combines research from ABI Research, Chetan Sharma Consulting, Deutsche Bank, Juniper Research and VisionMobile and Netsize's own mobile market trend survey.
