New GetJar analytics code allows devs to track user engagement

It's all very well keeping a track on how many times an app is downloaded, but many developers are keen to see how people are using their apps.
Free app portal GetJar has just updated its developer zone to include new analytic code that will lets studios do just that.
As reported by TechCrunch, developers who sign up for free can view whether their app is being used, amongst numerous other things, by simply adding a line of code to their app.
Track 'em down
When users download and open the app for the first time, it connects the GetJar server. As a result, developers can track exactly how many users make use of their apps, rather than downloading and deleting in quick succession.
Studios can also track other specific analytics, such as when users register for specific options or pay for a set service.
Word suggests the latest update to Apple's terms of service could scupper such code in terms of iPhone, although as GetJar doesn't support iPhone applications, it's unconcerned, saying it will "continue to serve developers across all open platforms, regardless of Apple".
