News Corp reorganises mobile division

News Corporation has announced a reorganisation of its mobile division, which includes Jamba/Jamster, and also a new dedicated mobile content studio.

The group will now be known as Fox Mobile Group, and will have three sub-divisions. Fox Mobile Distribution will include Jamba, Jamster and other consumer brands, now that News Corp has bought out VeriSign's 50 per cent share in the D2C retailer.

Fox Mobile Entertainment will handle licensing of Fox properties to mobile content firms, while Fox Mobile Studios is the new studio which will focus on creating mobile content of its own.

It'll be interesting to see how mobile games fits into the new organisation. It would be a surprise if Fox Mobile Studios plans to develop games in-house, given the complexity of the space, and the fact that Fox has traditionally licensed out its brands to game publishers.
