Blue Byte co-founder Thomas Hertzler resurfaces with cloud-focused dev Stratotainment

Texas outfit to announces details soon

Blue Byte co-founder Thomas Hertzler resurfaces with cloud-focused dev Stratotainment
Thomas Hertzler, the co-founder of Blue Byte Software, has announced the launch of his new start-up focused on gaming in the cloud.

The Austin, Texas, Stratotainment focuses on publishing and developing cloud-based games, although Hertzler is happy to concede that cloud gaming is "more concept than reality" at this point.

Still, Hertzler believes this will change.

Speaking frankly, he says he's "convinced cloud gaming is the future of games" and that "Stratotainment will be there to bring its own vision to this emerging technology".

Past experience

During his time at Blue Byte, Hertzler established himself for his work on the award-winning The Settlers and Battle Isle series.

Joining him at Stratotainment is Blue Byte's former VP of business development, Mark Hall, who quickly established what he has in mind for the new company.

"My first order of business was to find us the best developer to bring Thomas' vision to gamers worldwide. We have a talented team working on a globally renowned intellectual property of ours," he comments on the company's website.

Stratotainment is gearing up for another announcement in the days ahead - perhaps relating to what intellectual property is already under development.

A countdown timer on its website indicates that we can look forward to more details on May 9.
