With 1.1 million monthly users, Unity has democratised game development

At Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki 2015, Peter Willington spoke to David Helgason, one of the founders of Unity Technologies.

Starting off as a traditional middleware company, over the years, Unity has added more services to its technology, including an asset store, mobile advertising, analytics and video sharing.

And now most entry-level and indie developers can get all of Unity for free; something Helgason says fulfils Unity's mission to provide a technology that "democractises game development".

That's 1.1 million people on a monthly basis, "and growing".
