Mobile games-on-demand service Hatch partners with Qualcomm to power cloud-based gaming
Mobile games-on-demand service Hatch has partnered with chipmaker Qualcomm to power gameplay on the platform.
The Rovio-backed service is a mobile app designed to enable users to discover and instantly play games through streaming.
Each title is available for free with no IAPs or gameplay limits, instead using ads. A subscription package is also in the pipeline for users.
Cloud power
Through its deal with Qualcomm, Hatch will harness servers based on the 48-core Qualcomm Centriq 2400 processor to deliver cloud-based gaming in real-time.
This will be combined with Hatch’s own cloud tech aimed at providing low-latency gaming performance over mobile data networks.
“Our vision is to let people discover, play and share great games instantly and in real-time, bringing people together over games they love,” said Hatch Entertainment CEO Juhani Honkala.
“Our collaboration with Qualcomm Datacenter Technologies is a significant leap forward in advancing our existing gaming technology and platform, which offers users a fun and completely new kind of gaming experience on mobile.”
