Nokia 5800 XpressMusic runs into trouble in US
Nokia is hoping its touchscreen 5800 XpressMusic handset could be the one to crack the US market, where the company isn't yet considered a major handset player.
However, those ambitions appear to have been dented, with reports that the 5800 has been taken off sale a matter of hours after it went on sale in Nokia's New York and Chicago stores.
"I went to the New York flagship store this afternoon to look for the Nokia 5800 NAM," writes The [unofficial] Nokia Blog.
"Unfortunately, I was told it was no longer available for purchase because of reported issues. Im guessing its about the complaints of not getting 3G signal. A sales associate told me Nokia is trying to figure out whats wrong."
They're referring to a previous story on The Boy Genius Report about people returning 5800s due to having problems getting a signal.
Nokia hasn't made an official statement on the situation yet. The 5800's focus is on music rather than games, although it does offer motion-sensing titles, and may at some point be an N-Gage handset.
