PAYG Nexus One goes on 'pre-order' in the UK

Google's probably missed a trick in not giving its first branded phone, the Nexus One, a worldwide launch. Much of the hype has dissipated (particularly after the customer services problems US early adopters faced) and talk of the Nexus Two is already abroad.
Play.com has put live its first UK pre-order for the Android-powered Google phone, at a considerable £599.99. The listing is actually through a reseller, rather than the online retailer itself, suggesting this is someone bringing the device in from the States. Amazon.co.uk has a similar listing, though it's got another 40 quid on top.
The listing states that the UK Nexus One will be sporting Android 2.1, and will be available from February 16th, SIM-free and unlocked for use on any network.
At least this shows that the device is getting closer to leaving US shores, although the official Google sales page still shows the Vodafone package as 'coming soon'.
