PlaySafe ID raises $1.1m to fight cheating and toxicity in online games

Anti-cheat platform PlaySafe ID has raised $1.1 million in a pre-seed funding round to instil accountability and fairness in game communities.
PlaySafe said it will use the funds to support its growth, strategic platform integrations, and a major go-to-market push as it aims to reach over 250,000 users in the near future.
Based in the UK, PlaySafe is a privacy-first digital ID that anonymously verifies users and confirms they haven’t engaged in cheating or harmful behaviour toward children.
Early Game Ventures led the round, with participation from Hartmann Capital and Overwolf.
Building a safe environment
The platform is currently in talks with other game platforms and plans to initiate partnerships later this year. Its mission is to stop child predators and cheaters in games by issuing 'PlaySafe IDs' to gamers.
“This round gives us the firepower to move fast, expand our world-class team, and partner with games that want the most fair and safe environment for players to enjoy,” said PlaySafe ID CEO Andrew Wailes.
“This is now more important than ever before. With cheating in games as a mass-epidemic that ruins fun for players daily, and the Online Safety Act ushering in long overdue requirements for child protection in gaming, PlaySafe ID’s mission to safeguard gamers isn't just relevant - it's now essential for compliance and the future of global gaming.”
