Pocket Gamer Connects Barcelona kicks off today

The first-ever Pocket Gamer Connects Barcelona has kicked off today, setting up two days of sessions with top industry experts from the region and the usual plethora of networking opportunities.

Steel Media CEO began proceedings with a talk on the state of the market and why Barcelona has become a games industry hot spot.

It was followed up by a fireside chat with Scopely director of operations Néstor Pequeño discussing the Monopoly Go developer's Barcelona and Spain presence - which add up to make it the publisher's largest games hub.

Key players set to be represented during the show’s packed schedule include Scopely, FunPlus, King, Rovio, Sandsoft, Homa, Bandai Namco, Agnitio Capital, Crazy Games, Tilting Point and many more.

Networking events

Of course, it wouldn’t be Pocket Gamer Connects without a number of networking opportunities outside of the conference tracks.

There’s the Investor Connector and Publisher SpeedMatch side events, putting developers and other great companies face-to-face with publishers and investors to discuss their work and set the foundations for potential deals down the line.

Then there’s the Very Big Indie Pitch, with two separate contests for mobile and PC/console. It’s another opportunity for developers to get their games in front of experts, gain valuable feedback, publicity, and most importantly, win the coveted Big Indie Pitch bat.

Don’t forget to head on over to the Big Indie Zone to get your hands on some games and speak with the developers. Meanwhile, there’s also the Careers Zone for professionals looking for new work.
