Pokemon GO's retention is on par with other top games and it still has plenty of users to lose.

This is according to research done by SurveyMonkey Intelligence, which compared Pokemon GO's weekly retention between August 30th and September 28th with four other games across the same period.

It found that Pokemon GO's retention was better than both Subway Surfers and Clash of Clans, but was beaten by both Candy Crush Saga and Words with Friends.

However, its retention dipped only slightly towards the end of the period. This means that while it may not have retained as many users as other games, its retaining those it has at a similar rate.

Plenty to lose

SurveyMonkey also compared the number of users between games. While the other four games had around 10 million users, Pokemon GO was found to have 50 million at its peak.

Comparing Clash of Clans and Pokemon GO, the research found that while both games had a similar retention rate, Clash of Clans was only losing around 960 thousand players a week.

Pokemon GO, however, was losing around 3.9 million users a week. This explains why there is often a panic around the game's churn rate.

That said, the game still has plenty more players to lose, and its retention rate goes to show that the game is simply maturing rather than dying out completely.
