Progressive Media unveils RocketFuel platform

Danish mobile games firm Progressive Media has announced the launch of its RocketFuel development platform, which it's pitching at all developers working on cross-platform handheld games.
It allows developers to target J2ME and BREW, advanced mobile platforms like iPhone, Android and N-Gage, and also Nintendo DSi - all with a single set of tools.
CEO Thomas Nielsen hopes it'll help developers tackle the challenge of such cross-platform development.
"Fragmentation is constantly introduced, and the traditional approach of developing for one platform and porting to others becomes increasingly unsustainable," he says.
"Developers will need to work smarter, flatten learning curves, and accelerate time to market - something that is going to require new approaches and excellent tools."
However, Nielsen is keen to point out that RocketFuel isn't a "black-box" toolset that ports reference builds to other platforms.
The developer is already using the technology in several of its games, and plans to make it available to other firms from Q3 onwards.
