THQ reveals Q3 mobile revenues of $6.2 million

THQ has announced that its mobile division, THQ Wireless, generated $6.2 million of revenues during the third quarter this year.

That's a rise of 27.8 per cent year-on-year from Q3 2007's figure of $4.9 million. Mobile now accounts for 3.8 per cent of THQ's overall revenues, up from 2.1 per cent this time last year.

However, that's as much related to poor performance in other parts of the company. THQ's overall revenues dropped from $229.3 million in Q3 2007 to $164.8 million in Q3 this year, and it posted a net loss of $115.3 million – compared to $7 million a year ago.

THQ has already announced plans to axe around 250 jobs – 17 per cent of its studio staff – and is cancelling several titles in development as part of a strategic plan to boost profitability in 2009.

These seemingly all relate to console teams rather than mobile. In fact, wireless wasn't mentioned at all during THQ's analyst conference call last night.
