Replica Software teams up with Ideaworks Labs to integrate online multiplayer into Airplay SDK

Replica Software has announced it is to implement cross-platform online multiplayer in the Airplay SDK thanks to a partnership with Ideaworks Labs.
The two parties are coming together to assimilate Airplay with ReplicaNet Replica Software's network programming solution.
Network with nous
"Being integrated with Airplay SDK means developers of online games have even more options for connecting their players," said Replica Software owner Martin Piper.
"A vibrant multi-player, multi-platform experience is a proposition that is very exciting for us so it made perfect sense to team up with Ideaworks Labs."
ReplicaNet treats each C++ class as a potential network shareable object. The underlying software then detects any changes and automatically updates replicated classes on any other machines connected to the network session.
Developers can also utilise online user accounts with persistent data storage for statistics and ranking, discover or advertise networks session, license key verification and NAT punch through.
Online for all
Most importantly, however, by offering native C++, the same code can be used to connect players from different platforms.
"We are excited to see what developers can do with this extra online functionality," added Ideaworks CTO Tim Closs.
"The multi-platform features of ReplicaNet are an excellent fit with our own development model."
