Retention is dropping across all apps, but games have the worst of the lot

People churn, gamers churn faster
Retention is dropping across all apps, but games have the worst of the lot

Games have the worst retention rate of all apps, and that rate is dropping.

A study by Localytics has shown that average number of churning users across all apps has increased, with 63% of users having churned within a month of download, up 5% from the company's study last year.

On average, 75% of users churn from an app within two months, and 80% churn within three months.

Games perform the worst of all apps, retaining on average only 27% of users a month after download, dropping to 11% after three months.

The report suggests that other apps perform better as they become a key part of a user's life, so it only seems natural that a large number of games are going to see lots of users churning within three months.
