RIM rolls out in-app payments beta for BlackBerry App World

Long promised but yet to be delivered to the masses, RIM has launched an in-app payments system for BlackBerry App World via an update to the marketplace.
The new set up, which allows developers to charge for additional content within the app itself, is now available in BlackBerry App World version 2.1.
However, while the system is now up and running, the update is currently only available to BlackBerry Beta Zone members in North America and the UK.

Also on board in version 2.1 are extended login sessions BBIDs now lasting for 20 minutes before users have to enter their details in again - and a new take on featured items on the marketplace, designed to make the choices relevant to each specific user.
"We decided to change this functionality based on the feedback we received from you during the App World 2.0 Beta Program," RIM says in the literature that accompanies the update.
"Featured items are now filtered by carrier and country to ensure that you are presented with the most relevant apps as soon as you open App World."
There's no word on just when App World version 2.1 will be made available to all BlackBerry owners.
