If you want to be a truly successful mobile developer, cross platform development now needs to be your focus; that's the take home of a week that's seen OpenFeint kickstart Android gaming and a revitalised Nokia.

And so it is that the most successful mobile developer of 2010 (to date), Finnish studio Rovio is ensuring it covers all bases - with the notable exception of BlackBerry - when it comes to its seven million selling Angry Birds.

Smear it all over

It's announced a new update in the shape of Pig Fat, that will be released 'very soon' on Apple's App Store, as well as for Palm's Pixi and Pre webOS devices.

This will add 15 new levels, as well as localisation and performance optimisations. Apple gamers will also get support for Game Center and iPhone 4 and the new iPod touch's Retina screen.

In addition, Rovio has extended the devices supported by its Android Angry Birds Lite Beta, its commercial launch is expected in weeks, while support for the four launch Symbian^3 phones from Nokia - the N8, C6, C7 and E7 - was announced at Nokia World 2010.

Completing a busy week, Rovio announced its Mighty Eagle 99c smart bomb in-app purchase for iOS and Nokia devices will be included in a future update as well.
