Samsung Apps hits 10 million downloads in Europe

Samsung Apps has celebrated it first year on the market by passing the 10 million downloads mark in Europe.
The platform, which is available on some Samsung TV sets as well as its mobile handsets, offers the usual mix of social network apps, e-books and health-related software.
Games, however, appear to be enjoying considerable success, with Samsung claiming the most popular app across the continent is EA's Need for Speed: Shift.
Flashlight app Magic Torch hold second spot, while My Mirror which, unsurprisingly lets users study their reflection is the third most popular app.
Going global
As previously stated, Samsung's next drive will be to flood the marketplace with more locally customised apps, with Samsung Apps currently available in 109 separate markets.
"The expansion of Samsung Apps gives us the opportunity to reach more users than ever before with entertaining, compelling and enriching smartphone experiences," Samsung's Hosoo Lee said earlier this month.
"Samsung Apps' rapid expansion also signals an incredible opportunity for developers and content providers to reach new customers all over the world."
