Snapdragon S4 chipset energy efficiency demonstrated by a praying mantis...on a unicycle

Energy efficiency is fast becoming a byword for technological advancement, and rightly so.
To demonstrate the steps its taking in this arena with Snapdragon, Qualcomm has produced a video showing its S4 chipset powered by... bugs.
In truth, the bugs themselves are actually something of a sideshow. Specifically, the promo video is designed to showcase the S4 chipset being powered up by the kinetic energy - in this case created by a praying mantis on a unicycle.
Should mobile users not have a praying mantis handy in their pockets, the device can also be powered by a tarantula on a treadmill.
Little bug planet
This might all sound a touch bizarre, but the message couldn't be clearer: in short, the S4 Snapdragon chipset doesn't require that much energy to run on.
It's the kind of claim those currently suffering with poor battery life on their high-end devices will be eager to put to the test - albeit, not with a 'bug circus'.
Flying dung beetles aside, Snapdragon have also set up a Facebook app to promote the video.

Qualcomm recently announced its intention to release 2.5GHz Snapdragon processors during 2012, in single-, double-, and quad-core configurations.
