Sony Ericsson not bringing Android handset to the market

Sony Ericsson is currently haemorrhaging money at an alarming rate, with plans to shed 20 per cent of its workforce this year. And its not all through bad luck. The mobile manufacturer has failed to provide any kind of answer to the smartphone and online application store explosion, and is now feeling the effects of that oversight.
Because of this, CEO Hideki Komiyama has announced that itll be some time before Sony Ericsson releases the rumoured Android powered handset, though its pinning the issue on the systems immaturity.
It does require a lot of evaluation, as well as a lot of testing, a lot of acceptance from a consumer viewpoint, and there is still some time to go, Komiyama told Reuters.
Of course, getting involved in a massive venture such as smartphone development at a time like this is probably the worst thing Sony Ericsson could do, with its efforts better spent on weathering the storm its complacency has generated over the last 18 months.
