Sony rep claims PS Vita 3G downloads to be capped at 20MB for launch

While much attention has been casts on Sony' efforts to make PS Vita more social than its predecessor, one other area the company has been working on firming up is the breadth of its launch software.
As well as standard retail PS Vita games 100 of which will be on the shelves in the handheld's launch window - Sony has already confirmed 600 downloadable PSP titles will also be available from day one.
As such, news that the device's 3G downloads will be capped at the 20MB mark seems out of step with such a strategy.
Reality bytes
The limit, detailed by a Sony rep in an interview with ASCII, would make downloading such games on the go out of the question.
As such, it appears PSP downloads will be limited to wi-fi connections, suggesting Sony is looking to avoid users unknowingly amassing huge 3G bills when out and about.
After launch, however, the situation may change. The Sony rep suggested the limit hasn't been set in stone, and the 20MB cap may only be in place for launch.
Sony's position on PS Vita's proprietary memory cards - equipped to boost the device's storage for game saves was also clarified, with the rep claiming there are no plans to employ the cards in any other devices.
