Square Enix appoints Clinton Foy as US COO to drive mobile, social, casual business

Square Enix has announced the promotion of Clinton Foy to the position of Chief Operating Officer for its American operations.
In his new position, Foy will be tasked with leading the companys business development initiatives, specifically in mobile, social, browser and free-to-play markets.
Foy has been with Square Enix for six years, holding the position of vice president of business and legal affairs as well as providing general counsel. Previously Foy held a position as an attorney at Heller Ehrman, working with clients such as Sony and Microsoft.
Aggressive initiatives
"We are pleased to announce the promotion of Clinton Foy to COO," said Mike Fischer, president and CEO of Square Enix Inc.
"One of the key new responsibilities of the COO role will be to shape and drive more aggressive business development initiatives in free to play, social, mobile, browser, and emerging platforms."
"Clinton's valuable experience makes him uniquely qualified to lead our organisation in these important areas."
Like other Japanese console publishers - notably Capcom, Konami and Cave - Square Enix is making a concerted effort to get into the fast growing mobile, social and casual markets.
It set up Hippo Labs, new mobile studio in Japan earlier in 2011 as part of this move.
