Telltale Games win the Best App Ever 2013 award for Walking Dead: The Game

In its fifth year, it's appropriate that the Best App Ever awards for 2013 accumulated over five million votes from the public.

Hosted by iOS apps and games site 148Apps - part of Steel Media's US operations - the process climaxed in an awards show at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Supported by sponsors FreeAppADay and Testflight, the event saw some high profile developers take to the stage to receive their dues - and awards.

Familiar faces

Rovio's Mighty Eagle, aka Peter Vesterbacka, was on hand to claim the award for the Best Big Brand App (Angry Birds: Star Wars).

Chillingo co-founders Joe Wee and Chris Byatte picked up the award for Most Innovative Game for The Act. It was developed by React Entertainment and published on iOS by Chillingo.

Alas, the biggest winner - Telltale Games, which won the Best App Ever award for 2013 for Walking Dead: The Game - couldn't make it to Spain. However, it provided an acceptance speech via the wonders of HD video.
