With a focus on the game engine's future, Unity Technologies has revealed it is to lay open its development platform at this year's GDC.

The company claims Unity's next generation capabilities will dominate its appearance at the conference, due to kick off in San Francisco on February 28.

On the right track

The firm is also set to hold its first ever 'Unity Track Day' on March 1.

The day long presentation will provide newcomers to the platform what it claims is a crash course in the various ins and outs of working with the engine.

Six sessions in all will make the line up, including:

  • How to make money with Union and a technical introduction to Unity
  • Shader authoring in Unity
  • Making the Unity Editor do what you want
  • Building a better asset pipeline
  • How Electronic Arts uses Unity
  • Optimising for mobile and programming workflow

More details on Unity Track can be found on the GDC website.
