Video: Not all users are created equal says StartApp

As part of Pocket Gamer Connects San Francisco 2015, Alon Shen, Business Development Manager, West Coast at StartApp, gave a talk on the opportunities and challenges of monetisation.

"No one wants to be an ATM" said Shen, pointing to finding a right balance between user experience and your own desire for revenue.

Not all users are created equal

Yet Shen also said that the actual number of users buying IAPs is drastically low, specifically that "not even 2% [of users] are going to spend any money on your app".

To counter this, Shen suggests a hybrid approach since "not all users are created equal", and that developers should keep an eye on what users are spending and adjust their IAP and ad plans accordingly.
