Us Brits are all perusing speedboat catalogues right now, on account of the 2.5 percentage point drop in VAT that's just been made by the government. We're rich!

Okay, so we're not. But it does mean we're saving a few pennies on the weekly supermarket shop. But there's also a mobile gaming angle, funnily enough.

Vodafone has announced to partners that it's implementing the reduction in VAT from 17.5 per cent to 15 per cent on all its retail prices, including mobile games.

That means that what was a £5 game now costs £4.89, a £4 game is now £3.91, a £3 game is now £2.94, and so on. The operator's cheapest games, which used to cost a quid, now cost £0.98.

Vodafone says its managed service provider End2End spent the weekend altering prices and making sure it was all ready to go for yesterday's VAT cut.
